Woman in a Hat

Painted from life using oil on primed board, "Woman in a Hat" captures a fleeting, melancholic moment of existential reflection. The painting explores the inner world of a woman contemplating the arrival of old age and the memories of her past.
The artwork deliberately employs a restrained, moody color palette, but breaks it with a cold, pale light on the model’s face, symbolizing the autumn of life. Her large, intense blue eyes serve as a powerful contrast, drawing the viewer into her quiet anxiety and wisdom. I intentionally allowed the brushwork to be slightly imprecise, creating a beautiful, nostalgic blur—much like a frame on a vintage film reel. This painterly effect emphasizes that the moment is transient, capturing a beautiful soul frozen in a lifetime of thought. It is an ideal piece for collectors who appreciate deep psychological realism and cinematic atmosphere in fine art.
