Study of Venus de Milo
About This Work
Antique Study: Venus de Milo is an academic study based on a plaster cast of the famous Venus de Milo, created over the course of more than three months of intensive study.
The work explores the classical human figure through careful observation of proportion, anatomy, light and shadow, and the complex folds of the drapery. The composition also includes an antique ornamental medallion and a decorative vessel, creating a classical setting around the sculpture.
Executed by hand in a wet wash technique on calendered paper, the drawing focuses on subtle tonal transitions, atmospheric depth and the sculptural quality of the human form.
Original artwork. One of a kind.
